NGOs initiate legal challenge against EU glyphosate re-approval

PAN Europe, ClientEarth, Générations Futures, GLOBAL 2000, PAN Germany, and PAN Netherlands have filed a legal challenge against the European Commission's glyphosate re-approval. Citing several critical shortcomings of the glyphosate re-approval process, they've initiated the first step in their battle by submitting a Request for Internal Review.

Webinar “Glyphosate: why it needs to be banned in Europe” (Italian)

The Italian consortium ”Cambiamo Agricoltura” is made up of the main Italian associations dealing with health, environment and organic agriculture. In October the consortium decided to organise numerous events (online and in person) to support the reasons for saying no to glyphosate.

Members of the Coalition Avaaz, WeMove, Eko and Pesticide Action Network Europe delivered 2.5M+ petition signatures to the European Commission calling on the EU to stop the authorisation of glyphosate.

Criminal Complaint Against Bayer for Concealing Glyphosate Risks to Pregnant Women

In a submission made to the Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office, GLOBAL 2000 and other member organisations of PAN Europe revealed that the consortium led by Bayer withheld adverse glyphosate studies and/or data in the application for re-approval of glyphosate, influencing the risk assessment conducted by authorities in favour of reauthorisation.

Conference at the European Parliament - Is glyphosate safe for health and the environment?

Pesticide Action Network Europe (PAN Europe) co-hosted a high-level conference at the European Parliament with MEPs Jutta Paulus (The Greens) and Christophe Clergeau (S&D) on the safety of glyphosate. NGOs of the coalition organised a street action in front of the European Parliament to call for a ban on glyphosate and for a strong sustainable use of pesticides regulation to preserve the health of citizens, the environment and biodiversity as the foundation of food security.

NGOs deliver their petition to the German government

In Germany, environmental groups including Bündnis für eine enkeltaugliche Landwirtschaft e.V., Greenpeace, Umweltinstitut, Slow Food and Eko handed over their petition signed by more than 136,125 citizens to their Ministry of Agriculture, asking them to vote against the re-approval of glyphosate at the EU level.

A new report reveals why the conclusions of EFSA and ECHA contradict Inserm's observations on several important aspects of glyphosate's toxicity. The agencies have completely ignored the assessment of certain key effects of glyphosate and almost systematically failed to take into account the solid academic studies cited by Inserm.

European citizens support an EU ban of glyphosate reveals an IPSOS poll

A new IPSOS poll  in 6 countries commissioned by Pesticide Action Network Europe showed that approaching two-thirds (62%) of respondents believe that the use of glyphosate should be banned in the EU, while 14% of the citizens believe that the use of glyphosate should continue to be allowed in the EU.
